Often known simply as the Langkawi Half Marathon, this annual event takes place on the breathtaking island of Langkawi, Kedah, offering a mix of stunning coastal views, tropical landscapes, and a lively island vibe. Now marking its “Signature 5th Edition,” LIHM2026 promises an unforgettable running experience in paradise. The event is organised by Langkawirunners, with support from the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).

The Langkawi Half Marathon 2026 invites runners from around the world to push their limits while exploring one of Malaysia’s most beautiful islands.

For 2026, LIHM is focusing exclusively on the Half Marathon (21.1 KM) category, split into international, open (male/female), and senior open (male/female) divisions. Entries are capped at 7,000 runners, with cash prizes for top finishers in the international and Malaysia open categories.

Langkawi International Half Marathon 2026 Route & Challenges
Langkawi’s marathon route is as beautiful as it is challenging. Here’s what to expect:
- Terrain & Elevation: Mostly flat roads with some uneven areas; elevation gain of around 80m.
- Weather: Expect tropical heat and humidity. Stay hydrated!
- Scenery: You’ll pass through paddy fields, seaside stretches, and charming local villages.
- Event Quality: LIHM2026 is a World Athletics Road Race Label event, known for professional organization, accurate timing, and strong medical support. It’s also the only competitive race in Malaysia that starts and finishes indoors at a fully air-conditioned venue.
